Summary

Description

The burning laser diode from a 20x Lightscribe DVD burner. It's more than 250mW (16x DVD burners are 250mW), but I'm not sure how much more. I hear the lightscribe lasers are quite powerful. As you can see, it put up a hell of a fight before coming out the heatsink I found it in. It's a miracle I didn't break those itty bitty little gold wires. It needed to come out of its heatsink, so that I could transplant it into the heatsink/lens assembly from a cheap 5mW laser. I'm building a little current regulator for it, hopefully to avoid burning it out like the last one. :P

This picture is actually a composite of a picture taken with the flash, and one without. The lighting is much better this way.
